Are you still in love with your business?

Are you still in love with your business?

Sheena Whyatt·15 February 2022

I’m writing this on Valentines Day.  That day when apparently the only way to show someone they are valued in a relationship is by giving and receiving a faintly naff or rude greetings card, a bunch of overpriced and won’t last a week flowers, a box of chocolates – basically, tokens of affection that we feel the need to share once a year.  Now don’t get me wrong – I love a gift, I really do – but Valentines Day is a bit of an odd one.  A commercial focus that pushes us to exchange tokens of affection that are often bought in haste – and sometimes fall short of the mark.

It got me thinking.

Surely the best way to show you are valued in a relationship is by doing the little things often.  The unexpected stuff that just gives you that warm & fuzzy feeling of belonging.  The shared joke, the quiet time, the just ‘togethery’ stuff if you are in a relationship, or the small treats for yourself if you are not.

Which got me thinking a bit more.

Valentines Day does provide a given moment in the year for us to reflect on our relationships – with our husbands/wives/partners & selves.  A full stop in the hurly burly of being a human that makes us think about something we are probably taking for granted.

Which got me thinking again.

When was the last time you reflected on your relationship with your business?  Seriously.  When was the last time you sat down and thought about it?  I mean REALLY thought about it?

As a business owner, it is really, really easy to get bogged down in the day to day grind of running your business - & sometimes, we lose sight of WHY we do it, because we are just getting on with the HOW we do it.

If you feel like the gloss has gone off your business, ask yourself these 3 questions:

  1. Are you working with your super clients?
  2. Are you selling your super products?
  3. Are you doing what you love?

You see, if you are working with the wrong audience, selling the wrong product or service, and going through the motions, you will quickly lose sight of your WHY, WHO & WHAT.

Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with your business.

Are you making the right impact, for the right reasons, for YOUR business?

Or are you just going through the motions?
